Day 2: Pyramids and Civilization Museum Tour – Mummies Halls

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, your fascinating tour begins with a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, a unique museum in Egypt that provides an encompassing overview of the country's various historical periods. With an astounding collection of over 50,000 artifacts, the museum showcases the rich tapestry of Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the modern era.

A highlight of the museum is the Mummies Halls, which recently gained global attention with the Pharaoh's Golden Parade of 22 Royal Mummies from the old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to their new permanent home in the National Museum of Civilization. Among these revered mummies are those of King Ramses the second, Queen Hatshepsut, King Thutmos the third, and Queen Ahmose Nefertary. The Royal Mummies Hall has been thoughtfully designed to recreate the ambiance of the Valley of Kings, where many of these mummies were originally laid to rest. This immersive experience provides visitors with a sense of strolling through the ancient tombs.

Inside the Royal Mummies Hall, around 150 pieces are on display, including the mummies and their intricately adorned coffins. A noteworthy aspect is that each mummy is exhibited alongside the coffin in which it was discovered, adding to the historical significance of the display. The mummies are housed in special halls beneath the main exhibition, symbolizing the "underworld" reminiscent of their original resting place.

Following this captivating experience, you will have the opportunity to explore the main exhibition halls, which artfully depict the grandeur of Egyptian civilization throughout history, employing a multidisciplinary approach that highlights both tangible and intangible heritage.

Continuing your journey, you will then visit the Great Pyramids – marvels of human achievement – including the awe-inspiring structures of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerions. Admire the majestic Sphinx, a monumental funeral complex, guarded by the legendary lion body bearing the face of King Chephren.

As the day comes to a close, you may opt for an enchanting evening trip to attend the Sound & Light show in the Pyramids area, which offers a captivating narrative of Egypt's ancient history.

Following this incredible day of exploration, you will spend a comfortable overnight stay in Cairo, ready to embark on further adventures in this historically rich city

Next, you will proceed to the majestic Luxor Temple, an architectural marvel built by Amunhotep III during the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom, and later completed by the legendary King Ramses II during the 19th Dynasty. Ramses II, renowned for his reign of approximately 67 years, dedicated the temple to the great god Amun-Ra, along with his wife Mut and their son Khonsu, collectively representing the revered Theban triad.
